The annual Menstrual Hygiene Day (MHD) is celebrated on 28 May. The number 28 can be inferred to highlight the average woman’s cycle of 28 days.
This year, the theme of the MHD was: “Making menstruation a normal fact of life by 2030”. As the theme brings to bare the daunting fact that menstruation is still regarded with loath, access to menstrual care and hygiene is still a lofty idea for some, and menstruation can limit the achievements of those who experience it due to the fact that some do not have access to sanitary products, Centre for Promotion of Love and Peace in Africa (CPLPA) in collaboration with FREST Initiative went all out to add our quota in the awareness campaign.
We took the awareness a notch higher; we taught young girls how to make reusable pads for personal use and how to scale for economic gain.
Love is action and peace is a goal for us.
